Cosmic Rays
I had the privilege of doing summer research at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 2021 under the guidance of esteemed Physics professor, Dr. Simon Dalley. This research was by invitation only through the Governor's Science and Technology Champions Academy program. My research was about why muon particles don’t decay completely as they approach the Earth’s surface.
Being new to physics at that time, it was an eye opening experience to gain a deep understanding of cosmic rays and special relativity and the concept of muon decay. With my group of fellow researchers, I learned to use equipments like the digital oscilloscope, scintillator and the practical use of cosmic rays. I am especially proud of our work calculating the decay as part of the research and presenting our findings to the professors and STEM experts at SMU.
